General Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Completion Engineer to take system responsibility for the Commissioning of Cranes and Lifting Equipment within the Valhall PWP Project. The role covers planning, execution, and supervision of all completion and commissioning activities, ensuring systems are safely and efficiently handed over to Operations in accordance with Aker BP’s Project Completion Strategy and operational standards.
Position Purpose
Act as System Responsible Engineer for the planning, preparation, and execution of commissioning activities for Valhall PWP Cranes and related platform-provided lifting systems.
Ensure all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in line with project schedules, quality requirements, and HSSEQ standards.
Oversee the safe and efficient handover of PWP Cranes and Lifting Equipment to the Asset Operations team upon completion of commissioning.
Roles & Responsibilities
Maintain strong presence at crane fabrication sites during FAT, testing, and inspection.
Develop testing strategies based on supplier procedures to minimize yard and offshore testing, reducing commissioning-phase risks.
Take full ownership of crane and lifting systems throughout the commissioning phase, from planning through to final verification and handover.
Review and verify technical documentation and drawings relevant to Mechanical Completion (MC) and Commissioning.
Provide engineering input to ensure alignment with the Commissioning Testing Strategy.
Estimate and plan commissioning scope of work both onshore and offshore, ensuring clear progress tracking within PIMS.
Participate in MC punch-outs and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at supplier sites.
Develop, review, and implement detailed commissioning procedures.
Coordinate effectively with multiple disciplines to ensure efficient and safe commissioning execution.
Plan and manage Crane Authorized Technical Service (ATS) requirements onshore and offshore, ensuring availability of spare parts and tools.
Supervise and coordinate ATS personnel and other contractor resources.
Lead by example in maintaining a high focus on Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) performance.
Ensure a smooth transition from Project to Operations through structured handover and documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Engineering or related field. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
Extensive experience in commissioning or completion roles within oil & gas or offshore construction projects.
Experience with fully electrical cranes is considered a significant advantage.
Strong understanding of Mechanical Completion systems (e.g., PIMS).
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities independently.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to work across disciplines and with multiple stakeholders.
