Are you an experienced Subsea Controls professional with deep expertise in Subsea Control Modules (SCMs), lifecycle management, and subsea production systems?
We are looking for a Senior Subsea Controls Subject Matter Expert to strengthen a leading operator’s subsea engineering capability and support the technical stewardship and long-term development of an extensive SCM portfolio.
About the Role
This is a high-impact specialist position working across assets, projects, technical disciplines, and suppliers. You will play a key role in connecting project decisions, operational experience, reliability performance, technical requirements, and lifecycle strategies to ensure robust and sustainable management of subsea control systems.
The position offers a unique opportunity to influence product standardization, technology development, reliability improvement, and lifecycle optimization across a large subsea portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a comprehensive technical overview of the SCM portfolio
Analyze installed base, product variants, technical condition, obsolescence, reliability, and lifecycle status
Provide recommendations for upgrades, repairs, replacements, standardization, and life extension
Support projects with control system architecture, SCM selection, and interface management
Develop and improve technical requirements, standards, and best practices
Ensure operational experience, maintenance data, failures, and repair learnings are incorporated into future product decisions
Monitor technical integrity, availability, and reliability performance
Participate in or lead technical investigations, task forces, and root cause analyses
Contribute to spare parts strategies, repair programs, and replacement planning
Interface with suppliers on technical issues, product improvements, and long-term support
Prepare technical recommendations and decision support for stakeholders and leadership
Support knowledge sharing and competency development within the subsea engineering community
Qualifications
Higher technical education within engineering or extensive relevant industry experience
Significant experience with Subsea Control Systems, SCMs, or related subsea technologies
Experience from design, projects, operations, maintenance, or lifecycle management of subsea control systems
Strong understanding of technical requirements, system interfaces, and supplier management
Experience performing technical evaluations, problem-solving, and risk-based decision support
Good understanding of reliability, maintainability, lifecycle cost, and asset integrity principles
Excellent communication skills in English
Preferred Experience
Experience with multiple SCM platforms and supplier technologies
Offshore operator experience or exposure to the Norwegian Continental Shelf
Reliability engineering, RCA, and technical integrity management
Obsolescence management, repair strategies, spare parts management, and life extension programs
Portfolio management and standardization across multiple assets or projects
Scandinavian language skills
